Congratulations Singapore!!

Singapore has taken the pride of being the first city-state ever to host Youth Olympics to be held in 2010. The news was announced today by International Olympic Committee president Jacques Rogge from the headquarters at Lausanne, Switzerland. The other finalist in the bid was Moscow.

Gong Xi Fa Cai ??

Gong Xi Fa Cai - means Happy Chinese New Year. No, not exactly. The exact meaning of the phrase is WISH YOU GOOD LUCK AND PROSPERITY. Then how does one wish for a new year in Chinese? Xing Nian Kuai Le. However, I came across many who actually used the former one as wishes. Anyways, one can use either of them as both are good wishes :-)

Okay, here are some of the beautiful decorations that I came across during this festive season. Most of them, if not all, were clicked in the neighbourhood China Town.

Singapore, the vacant city

The bustling city of Singapore, which usually looks crowded with enumerous vehicles and people at this time, was giving a very deserted look today. The whole of Singapore will give the same atmosphere as today is chinese lunar new year.

This is the only day in the whole year, probably, that the city would be calm, quite & empty.

Significantly, all these photographers are my good friends whom I captured when we had been on different trips to different places.
